I’m currently in the process of writing a new book. Whenever I’m experiencing a bit of the old writers block, I always keep a Microsoft paint file on hand--there's nothing like a 24-bit illustration to clear the mind. Here’s something I’ve been working on for a few days. I call it Brothers Keeper.

I also have some really fine news to report. At age 23, I have recently accomplished one of my life’s ambitions! Some of my photographs and writings are currently featured on a cheesy roadside attraction sight called Roadside Peek. I’m genuinely thrilled, so click here if you wish to gander at the bizarre attraction known as The Lonely Bones!

That's awesome man. You have a piece of yourself out in the world for people to see now. The drawings was amazing too, of course. Really well done.

Wild! Congratulations on the feature, and another wonderful illustration.

Many congratulations dear chap!
Feels good dunit!
The Roadside Peek makes me realise that parts of your fair country really must be like living inside Pee Wee`s brain box!
I`m loving your art here. Impressive work sir.
(thanks also for you very kind words on my wee blog! cheers!)

I still wish I could see the lonley bones...sigh. I can't believe you did this in ms paint, you might as well paint it with q-tips, white out, and fingernail polish. It is a really cool image. I am just amazed you did it with ms paint.

Thank you Hans, I appreciate the comment.

Checkmark, I have many pieces of myself out in the great wide world, this one just happens to be the cheesiest! Thanks for the words sir.

Pickledog, great name sir, it warms my heart whenever I see it on the old comment board!

And crawl to my grave I will, Sir Elliot. My discovery of the Lonely Bones will know forever live among the annals of tasteless roadside attractions. At last, I can sleep easy!

Jared, I often inspire that emotion in people. My girlfreinds a complete emotional wreck as well.

Dave, thanks for the comment sir. And yes, I completely agree, this country’s highways are full of so much quirk and eccentricity. It’s a fine place to live, and I never want to leave.

Joe, one day I'm going to rebuild the lonely bones. That’s a solemn promise.

Thanks alexei.

And Alina, thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate you stopping by!

The Brothers Keeper art is very fine. At first I thought it might be a pattern for a rug!

I wonder if the brother behind is about to stab the brother in front in the back? I guess I'm in a dark frame of mind...

Congrats on the feature published in Roadside Peek. Cool site. Thanks for the link!

Super sweet work Justin, I can't wait to see more primitive artworks.... very exciting

HAZAAH!! I say

justinpatrickparpan said...

Hey doodlers, I'm sorry, but the narrative must remain a mystery. Let your own mood dictate the tale, that’s what I say.

Greg, you know me to well--Primitive artwork, that’s exactly what I would have called it!

Thanks for the kindly words gents!

Mr. Mike G!, your style is truly something else. For that, I must add you to my links!

Oh, I peaked a long time ago Mr. Ryan, I think sometime during kindergarten, when I was drawing pictures of Cool Spot and the Ninja Turtles.

I see one brother about to do- away with the other.. Is there something that you want to tell me?

I also see some kind of strange Flinstones reference. The weird lodge hats, the primitive caveman attitude. Is this Fred and Barney?

Egads, man! I dig all your blogs! Good luck on the new book!

Oh Man -- your stuff at a roadside attraction - wowzer I'm jealous - honking cool. And I love this post too, I do not see how you draw in Paint - but you do such a %*#@ good job of it I can't give you trouble for it. Did you ever get Painter IX - I wish you would -- you'd love it. Anyway, I just think your work is GREAT and I'm way loving that you are on a road side attraction - that is SOOO cool. Best Regards, Jacque

I absolutely LOVED all your illos, your style rocks! My two kids are HUGE dino-maniacs and they totally digged your art. I might take them to see the Cabazon dinos and your Lonely Bones next week...
Thanks for stopping by my blog,it's an honor to have talented artists like yourself visiting :-)

Hey Josh, you nailed it. Lately, I’ve had this incredible hankering to watch the cheesy Flintstones movie from 94, and seeing that I don’t own it and I’m to lazy to run over to the Blockbuster, I sit at my computer all day long, and dream about the colorful caveman realm of Americas favorite primordial family!

Plus, remember that trip we took to the Flintstones Park in South Dakota when we were kids. Yeah, that really messed me up!

justinpatrickparpan said...

Thanks for the kind words Jacque, and sorry, I never did get a hold of Painter. The Photoshop simply wouldn’t allow it, and you don’t want to make the Photoshop angry, right?

Hey Mr. Mad Mounty (sounds like a used cars salesmen!) Before I venture into the glamorous world of Photoshop, I usually draw and draw and draw, until I get that ruff ink drawing just right—then I start painting.

Geninne, by all means, take those kids to Cabazon and my hometown of San Jacinto. My parents did the same when I was a kid, and those giant beasties really changed my life! And tell your son his green jungle snake is really quite impressive, and not just because he’s 9, it’s just a really elegant design. Bravo!

Hey Justin, these guys remind me of some kind of Mayan/Inca hallucination. Congratulations on the Roadside Peek thing man, great photos and text. Is the creator of the lonely bones really a unknown? Very cool.

Jo Bling said...

Nice image squire, reminds me of something I might hallucinate after eating some bad cheesey nachos!!! :-D

Stephen said...

It's another holy moley! MS paint. You turn a pixle limitation into a fine fine ancient art of mosaic.

justinpatrickparpan said...

Lubomir and Mr. Bling, yeah, I was hallucinating all right, but it wasn’t on nachos or Mayan voodoo grog. I have two explanations for you, an entire week spent locked away in a sweltering garage studio while listening to the exotic sounds of Don Tiki, and night after night spent in front of the boob-tube watching the Flintstones on Boomerang!

Hey Stephen, yeah, isn’t Microsoft Paint the greatest invention of civilized man? We'll, maybe right up there with the wheel, and maybe the invention of the pit toilet.
