Here’s a tiny piece from one of the new illustrations. It’s from a scene near the end of the story, when Gwango finally reaches the end of the lonely trail.
He’s alone, he’s dejected-- he’s the loneliest prehistoric reptile this side of the Rio Grand!I also wanted to announce the start of a fantastic new blog! The amazing work of Cal Arts Character Animation graduate Jesus Chambrot can be seen HERE!
Really awesome illo Justin!! I love the color choices in your work. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteI like the little bits of moss
on the powerlines- it really adds
to the mood. Looks like a great story.

Gwango's expression of desperation would put a tear in my eye if I were the crying type. But I'm not! (I hope things turn out alright for this poor dinosaur. I think I've got a little something in my eye...)
ReplyDeleteI love the feelings of loneliness that the color combos evoke.
ReplyDeleteYou are a master!
Beautiful!! Especially love the puffy cloud a lot, AWESOME design.
ReplyDeleteI love your work....Beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteJustin! Sheesh! This is my favorite of yours yet. You and Josh are starting to make me sick with your talents (and that's a good thing).
ReplyDeletewonderful, offbeat style! keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteReally nice man...you've got one of those styles that people find really hard to pull off unless it comes naturally...
ReplyDeleteNice! ;)
love this pink dinosaur. It feels like a sweet lost soul. Lovely style, colours, mood etc. Great!
ReplyDeleteComing along very nicely. You have the sweetness for a kids book and (refreshingly) the skillz to make it look good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments guys! And a special thanks to Mr. William Wray. Your kind words mean a lot Sir.
ReplyDeleteOK, officially a fan now. Dinosaurs rock (I did a kids book a few years back that went gangbusters, DINOSAURS AFTER DARK) and any book that namechecks(ish) Gwangi is a winner in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteSo where do I buy this artwork? ;-)
