Awhile back, I wrote a story called Tin Skin. It was my first serious attempt at writing something for kids, and for that reason, it’s a bit rusty. But the basic stories there, along with some really cool concept illustrations by my brother
Josh Parpan. So if you want to have a read, here it is:
TIN SKIN
Arrgh! I want to re-do these drawings so bad!! Their old and stale and the color sucks and her face weirds me out. Oh well, I'll do better next time.. I'm going to go cry in my room now.

ReplyDeleteVery nice arts!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Josh, I don't know what you're talking about... the illustrations are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, Alina and Jeff.
ReplyDeleteAnd Josh, you’re insane, the illustrations capture the feeling of the story perfectly.
So do yourself a favor, listened to Jared and myself, and just except the fact that these illustrations are perhaps the greatest thing in the history of civilized man.
Their, that’s your self-esteem boost for the day :)
Writing too???? The man is unstoppable. Haha. Lovely imagery in the story Justin. What a mad mind you have. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteY'all should check out Scarecrow Joe too while you're at it.
ReplyDeleteCracking images to compliment the story. Stop hiding your light under a bushell, Josh!

ReplyDeleteThanks donnachada. Coming from you, that means a lot.
ReplyDeleteAnd Curtis, Ive never heard that term of phrase before, but I like it, and even though I'm not entirley sure what it means, I'll say it myself,
"Josh, stop hiding your light under a bushell"
Wow, that felt really good.

ReplyDeleteGreat illustration here, I went back through some of your archives - I love all your dinosaurs/monsters they're great!
Thanks for the kind words Alexei and Tamsin Ainslie.
ReplyDeleteOK, so....
ReplyDeleteNot a god-fearing man by any means, but I believe it's in the bible, and it means not to keep one's good traits, abilities and gifts hidden. Use your talents, let them be of help in the world.
Don't be so modest, basically
;-)
Thanks for the translation, Mr. Bling.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, my brother has no right to be modest. If anything, a chap with his kind of talent should be emperor of the entire world, or at least a fat headed jerk of some kind :)
Pretty pictures and pretty words always make my day. Cheers!
